Dal Chawal & Papad (Ultimate Comfort Food)
The Ultimate Indian comfort food is dal, chawal and papad (Lentils soup, steamed/boiled Rice and crispy flat bread). Indulge with a hot bowl of rice with a dollop of ghee, dal and papad on the side .Lets Cook.
Cook some Steamed Rice in rice cooker
one cup of rice ( basmati or jasmine )with 2 cups of water.
DELICIOUS DAL, ( LENTIL )
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 cup Toovar dal, ( yellow dal ) washed and soaked for 10 min
- 1/2 Onion, peeled and finely sliced
- 1/2 tbsp Ginger-Garlic paste
- 1 tbsp Red chilli powder
- 1/4 tbsp Turmeric powder
- Salt
- Oil
- HOW TO COOK !!
In a pressure cooker OR Rice cooker, add dal with 1 cup of water. To this add salt, turmeric powder and mash with a spoon or wooden masher. You can squeeze some lemon and bit of sugar for that sweet & sour taste.
In a heavy bottom cooking vessel or kadai, add oil, finely chopped onions. Fry till light brown in color and add 1/4 tbsp ginger-garlic paste. Fry for 1-2 min and add this tadka or tempering to above dal. Add some chopped cilantro leaves ( optional )
Serve hot with steamed hot rice with a dollop of ghee and paapad.
